First off; My apologies, and sincere gratitude to everyone who I was privileged enough to work for over the last 3 years.

Unfortunately given the scope of the treatment and recovery, the financial obligations, and current timeline of my ability to return. I am left with no other choice. Rest assured anyone with any pending business will be taken care of to the best of my ability.

I am now up and about enough to start the process of closing things down, and will be finished by the end of this month.

I am immensely proud of what myself, and all the skilled employees I have had, have accomplished with SE Auto. Everyone I have worked with, and all of my loyal customers will be very sorely missed. Regrettably in this life there are inevitable circumstances that force choices, the hardest being the ones you have little to no control over. The upheaval that something so small as a Golf ball can cause makes it all the more hard to swallow.

I want to thank specifically:

All my VW friends in lowlifeaz.com for all the support, much needed humor and all the selfless donations they made to help me get through this and keep my head above water financially, my parents for everything they have done and continue to do too numerous to list, and my girlfriend Alex for all her understanding and support.

J.D. for sacrificing to get it off the ground, and working for what I could afford despite being much less than he was worth. And all the regulars that spent too much time at the shop, but always chipped in and held a light, handed me a wrench, or even ran to grab a late parts run.

Thank you to everyone again, and I will see you all around very soon I hope. My prognosis is very good, it just requires vigilant monitoring and slow rehabilitation for the time being as well as an unwelcome career change.

Again if you need anything vehicle related I would strongly suggest

I am very sorry to inform all of you that we will be temporarily closing our doors. As most of you know it takes quite a bit for me to close shop but a serious situation has arisen that has forced my hand. While getting my right knee examined for chronic pain over the last year or so, the doctors found an abnormality. The X ray showed a growth on the lower section of my Femur. This led of course to immediate action, including but not limited to MRI, CT PET Scan etc. I have been absent the last few weeks tending to these tests. I have been told now that the increasing pain currently preventing me from being able to walk unassisted; is due to the bone thinning/deteriorating as a result of the tumor. It is suspected to be Chondro Sarcoma, although I have been told over and over that at this point that’s only a very well educated guess, and surgery is the only way to determine 100%.

I do not yet know my treatment timeline, but hope its a speedy and successful one. Obviously I will not be at the shop, nor able to receive phone calls or check voicemail. THE ONLY WAY to contact me aside from my cell, is by emailing Sales@SEAutoEngineering.com I apologize to ALL of my customers, especially those who have already been put out with pending work in the shop now. I have every intention of doing EVERYTHING possible to keep our doors open for when i return, whenever that may be. Thank you to all of you that were already privy, for your condolences, and to the rest of you that I may miss. I have many wonderful friends, and this has always been an amazing community both offering so much support.

To anyone who needs any work done on their car I would VERY strongly recommend the following options for the east and west sides of the valley:

West – Exklusiv Motorsports (email is best) Sales@exklusivmotorsports.com

East – Doug’s Buggs and Bunnies – 480-962-1101

Both have my personal cell and can contact me for any background info related to repairs

Thank you all again

The apropos words so keenly spoken as this piston was removed from #3 position, fully explaining the utter lack of compression.

This is from the unfortunate 07 DSG K04 powered GTI belonging to Ken Eguchi. Still verifying the cause of the catastrophic failure, but needless to say it can be added to the list of engines already built, and the ones still on the docket for the month. Keep your head up Ken, We can rebuild it, we have the technology.

Well we are obviously a bit late in announcing it, but summer is here. We have been overwhelmed with work due to the unforgiving Arizona heat wave. Alternators, AC compressors, radiators and water pumps in the dozens! With the swell of work in the shop the blog has been put on the shelf, but not to fret we are back. Thanks in part to our new employee, Sonny, turning wrenches. He’s a very welcome addition to the team and has already made a HUGE difference in productivity. Even with both lifts churning out work all day we are struggling to keep up with demand these days, but it’s a very welcome problem to have. Here’s some shots of some of the work we have had in the shop over the last month or so:

Red R32 convention… 1 with a new United Motorsport ECU Flash, New 2011 Audi RS4 Cool air intake system, 1.8T Engine builds, MK3 brakes and flushes, Jetta transmission rebuilds and broken 2.0T FSI Downpipes… Just to name a few

Matt Duke just picked up this very familiar car. He dropped it off with a big list last week. So far its new owner has added a VF Supercharger, Coil overs, New headlights, and Satellite radio… Busy week

We started with the Coilovers to get it down to a better stance. He opted for the KW ST line coils. After that we got to work on the Supercharger, it was a used and reconditioned VF kit. After a phone call to Jeff Atwood at United Motor Sport we decided to install 630cc injectors and use his custom tune for the car. All we needed from there was an R32 MAF housing and some odds and ends to clean up the install a little. In a week or so we will have the car back for the custom FMIC setup, and possibly a stage 2 pulley…

Enjoy!

After a long wait, a lot of payments, a lot of parts, the R32 Stage 3 Turbo build commenced. The kit was sourced from CTS Turbo and consisted of a Precision HP6262 Turbo, 38mm Precision wastegate, 3″ SS downpipe with integrated WG dump, SS charge piping, FMIC and 4″ AL MAF housing and inlet. CTS utilizes a stainless head gasket spacer to drop the compression ratio to 9:1, and 550cc Siemens injectors. Last we installed all new timing chains, guides and also threw in a Clutch Masters Clutch kit with lightweight flywheel package. Thank you to 20 Squared Tuning for always having the parts we need ready to go.

The hinge pin of the whole system was the United Motorsports ECU programming. Jeff Atwood’s reputation as one of the best VW/Audi tuners was solidified on the first drive. No codes no issue, smooth consistent power delivery from beginning to end. A big thank you to Jeff for getting the file on, and getting the ECU back to us amidst his busy schedule.

While we had the car we decided to throw in some added touches for the owner (Curtis March). We cleaned up all the accessories and brackets, polished some, painted some and just eliminated some. The valve cover was polished, and complimented by a BMP paint job on the intake manifold. Next we blacked out all the obtrusive and bulky accessories to make sure the turbo kit was the focal point of the engine bay. While Curtis has a lot of plans for the paint and body, none of them have come to fruition just yet. So for the time being this hoopty is all Go and no Show, but there is more than enough Go to even things out.

Here are the pictures form the build that we managed to take amidst the grind, Enjoy!

We are on our way to finishing up the CTS Stage 3 Turbo install on Curtis’ 04 R32, we also have had a lot of other work through the shop that we didnt get a chance to update you all on.

First, we had the full Adam Rauscher Trifecta! ALL 3 CARS! At once… When all three cars you own are in the shop, at the same time. You need to re-evaluate your car choices. Especially if one of them is a Corrado. We have decided to dedicate one of our lifts to Adam for his patronage and frequent investments into our establishment

On the Audi Allroad, we replaced all the front suspension control arms, and bushings, as well as ball joints. Next we removed the intake manifold to access the leaking auxillary water pump. Then after some careful inspection we decided to replace the timing belt and water pump since the water pump had some strange noises and leaks arising. While we were there we also replaced some hurting gaskets, and vacuum lines.

Next we replaced the front wheel, hub, and bearing on the Cabriolet and gave it a good head to toe. We transferred the tire over to the new wheel and sent the cabby on its way.

Lastly now that the 3.2 liter 12v MK3 VR was finished, and polished up in the Corrado. We went over the suspension, the brakes, and some of the trim items. We installed a new catch can set up as well as the custom fiberglass rain tray, and also repaired the door latch situation. Just as soon as the new hood is finished and painted we will put up some pictures and new updates.

In all seriousness, a big thanks to Adam for all his business and referalls. He is a good friend and a good customer. It’s been a very busy month! More updates to come, STAY TUNED!

The abridged version of the cars we featured here were: Cam shaft replacment on a 2006 Audi Avant Quattro 2.0T, Coilover install and intake on 2003 GTI 24v, Full custom exhaust on E30 BMW, Wheel bearing/hub and suspension work on Rauscher’s Cabriolet, Timing belt water pump, tune up on 20th Ann. GTI, Boost gauge, and full Turbo Back Exhaust on 2007 GTI 2.0T, 4 wheel brake upgrade on 2005 Touraeg, Diagnosis and repair on formerly Tubo charged R32, Head gaskets and timing chains on 2004 Dodge Ram 1500… And much much more we didn’t get photographed.

So what’s on deck? Do we have a break? Nope… Currently we are installing new chains/guides, bigger clutch and head gasket/spacer, to accompany the CTS Stage 3 turbo kit on a 2004 R32, next is the full engine build to prepare for BT for the long awaited 2004 GLI project. The 1970 C10 pick up project will get rolling on,now that the parts are rolling in.

We always make time for the day to day repairs as well, so be sure to call if you need anything we always do our very best to get everyones issues taken care of as fast as possible even with the explosion of work as of late.

As always thank you, to all of our loyal customers!

We have slightly rearranged the lobby, and added a larger flat screen, and Media center PC with internet access.

Well after an amazing year we have finally installed the 2nd automotive lift in the shop. It meant a total redesign of the back shop, but it turned out well in the end. It couldnt have come at a better time with the absolute deluge of work we have gotten over the past few weeks. With the completion of the 3.2l Corrado build, we are on to our next big custom build. All the while keeping the other cars moving out the door with their satisfied customers. At last count Monday the tally was 16 cars in the line up. So be sure to schedule ahead of time whenever possible to ensure the best and most prompt service.

The front office and lobby are undergoing renovations as well, we are in the process of installing a new flat screen, and windows media center PC in the customer lobby. In addition to our free WiFi this will allow our customers without personal computers to access the internet, work, study, or else just browse our digital library of movies and TV shows (Top Gear BBC!)

No pictures for now, we will save that for the unveiling after the renovations are 100% complete. Stay Tuned
